Journal Entry #15 - March Recap
As we say goodbye to March and welcome April, we’re embracing the fresh energy of spring and reflecting on a month full of creativity, celebration, and connection.
We’ve made wonderful progress on several projects this month, including the wrap of our Melrose Project in which a cozy window nook was installed for a lovely North Toronto family. We can’t wait to share the final reveal with you soon! We continue to work through the design installation at our Brookdale Project using tiles to expand the narrow entrance and adding fun wallpaper and a beautiful stair runner to complete the welcoming look! This month we finalized the plans with Hatch Designs for our new Bermuda Project in the west end of the city. Working with Hatch as been a wonderful experience and I am excited to bring our vision to life.
Melrose Project window bench with Tonic Living throw pillows and custom bolsters and cushion. Bench opens for additional store and was designed to mimic the traditional millwork around the fireplace.
March is also my birthday month! We celebtated with a day of watching our kids do what they love followed by a delicious steak dinner and Dufflet cake. I felt loved and spoiled - it was a great day! Here are some things I had on my wishlist:
Spring always brings a renewed sense of possibility. We're drawing inspiration from the fresh palettes of spring, clean lines and natural wood tones. If you're craving a seasonal refresh, we’d love to help you breathe new life into your space. Speaking of refresh - I am excited to share I will be moderating the upcoming Homes Matter speaker series event: Design with Purpose on May 7th. This discussion will explore three key areas of home design and how they connect: Refresh - updates that elevate your everyday living. Renovate - transforming your space to meet your evolving needs. Resale - making strategic design choices to maximize your home’s market value. Tickets can be found here: Homes Matter: Design with Purpose
Looking to update your home this season? Here are a few of our favourite local and Canadian spots to shop for stylish home pieces: Bettencourt Manor, Elte Mkrt and V de V all have wonderful and knowledgeable staff. Support local and make your space shine!

We’re thrilled to welcome a new client in the west end of the city, and we can’t wait to bring their vision of family living to life. We will be addressing their main floor entry, living and dining rooms as well as the basement play area, adding a washroom, laundry room and mudroom to the plan. Meanwhile, we’ve been making great strides in the development of our ongoing Brendan Project, ensuring every detail aligns with our design goals. As we wait for the last of the millwork to be installed, we are finalizing the styling details to bring this all together. We can’t wait to have her photographed for you! Our Brookdale Project has officially moved into the Deployment Phase with personality and colour. We love seeing our designs come to life - it is always a rewarding experience! And finally, our Melrose Project has one more item to be installed and we can tie a bow on it!

Journal Entry #13 - January Recap
As January comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the design lessons we’ve learned in 2024 and how they will shape the year ahead. This past month has reinforced the importance of a solid and transparent process, timeless aesthetics, and creating interiors that truly reflect individuality.
Moving into 2025, we’re excited to bring these insights forward, helping you craft spaces that are both beautiful and meaningful. Additionally, we’re setting ambitious business goals: expanding our team, collaborating with local artisans, designers and businesses, and implementing business practices to better serve our clients.
A true highlight of 2024 was working alongside Wendy Smith of @Matter_Homes and I am excited to announce our latest collaboration - MH Design Trend Spotlight: a quarterly offering that will be your go-to guide to making creative decisions in your own space. Our first featured design trend for 2025 is the concept of “slow design”. This philosophy emphasizes enjoying the creative process, making intentional choices, and culitvating spaces that evolve meaningfully over time. Follow @matter_homes and @megrogersdesign_ on Instragram and stay in the know!
What trends are you looking to implement this year?

Journal Entry #12 - 2024 Recap
Wrapping Up 2024 with Gratitude and Growth
As 2024 comes to a close, I’m filled with gratitude and pride reflecting on a year of growth, connection, and creativity in an industry that has been both new and incredibly welcoming.
My journey into interior design began with a course, which led me to an inspiring community, introduced me to incredible colleagues, and ultimately allowed me to contribute meaningfully to this space. Today, I’m proud to call myself a designer and collaborator—and it feels amazing.
I’m deeply thankful to everyone who trusted me as a designer, supported me as a connector or cheerleader, and inspired me along the way. Each person I met or worked with this year played a part in shaping this journey, and for that, I’m truly appreciative.
Highlights of 2024:
Working as a design associate for three amazing designers: Jessie Kelly, Lauren Woods, and Kate Dickson.
Connecting with Wendy Smith of Matter Homes.
Partnering with incredible clients to design homes that not only look beautiful but feel like a true reflection of how they want to live.
This year reinforced some valuable truths for me: I thrive when I’m helping others. I’m happiest in team environments, solving challenges creatively and collaboratively. And most importantly, when the people I serve feel supported and valued, I know I’m doing my job well.
I’m grateful to have found an entrepreneurial space that prioritizes collaboration over competition, and I look forward to paying it forward in the future.
As I wrap up the final week of December, I’m focused on tying up loose ends and solidifying my goals for 2025. I can’t wait to share what’s ahead! Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Journal Entry #11 - November Recap
As we wrap up another exciting month, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the highlights from November here at Meg Rogers Design. Whether you're looking for inspiration for your next project or simply want to keep up with our latest design endeavors, here's a quick look at what we've been up to!
What’s Happening at MRD
This month, we had the pleasure of working on several beautiful spaces in the Toronto area. From cozy urban apartments to stylish residential spaces, we’ve been working hard to bring our clients' vision of living to life. Here are a few highlights:
Merton Project: A functional and welcoming refresh of a family home including a serene bedroom escape, a playroom and an entry update. We hung the window treatments this week and will be putting the final touches in place just in time for the holidays.
Melrose Project: adding personality and colour including a custom window seat and updated furnishings to match this family’s warm and hospitable lifestyle.
Brendan Project: demo complete on the bathroom and office areas and heading into the build phase. Excited to share the transformation.
Brookdale Project: We are presenting our concept boards and budget this month along with proposed drawings for a new basement layout to a young family in North Toronto.
Fallingbrook Project: A full condo refresh including updated custom kitchen and built-ins around a floor to ceiling fireplace.
Stay tuned for full project reveals on Instagram and on our website; we’ll be sharing the before-and-afters!
On the Town
November got me out on the town, and I look forward to doing more of this in 2025!
Edit 1134 Launch Party I had the pleasure of attending the launch of @edit1134’s online store, hosted by founders Kelly Lynn Armstrong (KLA Interiors) and Sarah Birnie (Sarah Birnie Interiors) - check out the mix of collected and vintage finds here: https://edit1134.com/
Anna Church & Co. Anna Church hosted a speaker panel addressing the benefit of incorporating art early into the design process hosted by Nuria Madrenas, Founder and Curator of Tacit Collective. A beautiful and inspired evening with fellow designers and local artists. I left feeling connected and energized.
Bosley Holiday Market On November 30th Bosley’s office in Leaside was transformed into a Winter Wonderland showcasing local artisans and small business owners. As a sponsor and the lead designer of the event, I was able to bring a bit of holiday whimsy into the space creating vignettes of winter greens and pops of red to celebrate the season. It felt so good to be a part of this event and congrats to the team at Bosley for a great day!
Holiday Wish List
As the weather cools down, it's the perfect time to prep your home for winter. Here are a few cozy blankets we are “thowing” (see what I did there) into our projects this time of year and a couple pops of red we are coveting this holiday season!

Journal Entry #10 - September Recap
September came and went in a blink of an eye! I am sure many of you feel the same and wonder, where did the month go? I was so ready for routine and focus, but the back to school and sports schedules definitely got the better of me and I find myself just holding on for the Thanksgiving break! That said, things are MRD have been progressing well and I don’t see things slowing down any time soon. With two new decor projects beginning this fall and the continued rollout of our Brendan Project, as well as working as an associate at two other Toronto design firms, I believe we will be celebrating the winter holidays in no time!
This past weekend, we put some of the final touches in place at our Millwood Project and I couldn’t be happier for this family to finally have a living space that allows for both cozy family movie nights and elevated entertaining. Here are a couple snaps from the day:
Orders are finally being placed for our Merton Project and we cannot wait for this busy family to have their spaces complete and ready to enjoy. This project has helped me learn that even with the best intentions and detailed planning, timing is not always in your control and to that, being flexible and an available resource for my clients is part of the role.
Embracing the Fall Season
Fall invites us to wrap ourselves in warmth—both in texture and color. This season, think rich hues like deep reds, warm browns, and muted greens. Here are a few ways to bring that autumn feel into your space:
Layer Textures: Swap out lightweight summer fabrics for heavier textiles. Consider adding chunky knit throws and plush pillows in earthy tones to create a cozy atmosphere.
Nature-Inspired Decor: Transition your summer planters with the addition of seasonal elements like pumpkins and gourds or add a simple mum in a rich colour to your porch display to take you into the cooler season. Add baskets and textured rugs too!
Lighting Matters: As the days grow shorter, focus on warm lighting. Use candles, fairy lights, or soft table lamps to create an inviting glow that makes your home feel even cozier.

Back to School, Back to Routines
With the hustle and bustle of the school year here, establishing organized spaces is crucial. Here are some design tips to help streamline your routines:
Designate a Homework Zone: Create a dedicated space for study and creativity. Ensure it’s well-lit and stocked with supplies to minimize distractions.
Organize Entryways: Set up a functional entryway that accommodates backpacks, shoes, and coats. Consider stylish baskets or hooks to keep clutter at bay.
Family Calendar Display: Utilize a bulletin board or a magnetic calendar in a communal space to keep everyone informed about schedules, activities, and important dates.
Let’s Connect!
As we transition into fall, I’m excited to help you transform your home into a space that reflects the season and supports your family’s lifestyle and routines. Whether you need a full redesign or just a few seasonal updates, I’m here to guide you through the process.
Feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation or share your favorite fall decor ideas. I’d love to hear how you’re making your home a cozy haven this season!

Journal Entry #9 - August Recap
Where did the summer go? As we wind down these last days of fun, I find myself reflecting on the past eight months and looking forward to September’s fresh start and the plans and projects ahead for MRD.
Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of working alongside two seasoned designers, supporting them on projects that have pushed me creatively but also taught me things you just don’t learn in school. This experience has not only provided me with an environment for growth but has helped me adjust and develop my own business models and processes which will continue to unfold as we bring on more clients this fall.
Our projects are moving along despite the summer slump (holidays, product delays, etc), but feels good to look back and see where things started to where they are now.
Autumn is a time of change, and this transition season brings in everything I love; routine, fall fashion and that back to school focus I can’t wait to put into action. The sticky days of summer are gone, and the scene is set for productivity!
Coming up this fall we have the wrap up of both our Merton and Millwood Projects, we are starting demo on our Brendan Project and thanks to my partnership with Matter Homes we have met with a new prospect client and working on plans for their home décor.
Closet and Cart
Still inspired by my New England holiday and always one for stripes, here are a couple classics I have in my closet and cart that are perfect for fall.
